A beautiful sunrise this morning but cold -2....I much prefer to see blue skies and the frost than rain.....we now have 3 baby goats..... what a surprise when I went out to check on the first one....there in the grass a tiny black goat crying and both mothers cleaning the other two...I picked it up and took it to its mother......I told you spring was just around the corner.....I have seen so many of our pets born here, but I still find it truly amazing when I see this little thing just born and within half an hour is up on its feet feeding of its mum.....snow is forecast for Wednesday we usually get a couple of days a year but it goes very quickly....

sunny

After all the rain and windy nights the sun is shining again this morning.....it is very mild here but expecting some frost next week....I don`t mind the cold temperatures the skies are blue and I can get out and walk the dogs....

Temperatures have been around 12c so still very mild for this time of year....later today showing sunshine 14c

Only 2 months before we open once again time to book your crossings and planning your trip....

Sunny Christmas

12c but wet...

I have been away for a few days to visit my grandson in Bayonne.....I just missed two storms going and coming back which was lucky.....on my way down there it was 22c at Pau and dropped very quickly before the storm......it is a very pretty trip especially with the snow on the mountains.....Sunday was a dry and sunny day but it has rained heavily since....tomorrow it is showing sunshine and Christmas looks to be sunny and frosty....winter has finally arrived here although there are still many trees with leaves and all my plants have not been touched by any frost yet....would you believe we have a sun flower out...... of course lots to do since my return but really looking forward to all the family joining us soon.....I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and a Great New Year....many thanks for all the lovely cards and best wishes  we have received....See you all in 2012 !!! ( its just around the corner )...

raining...

Temperatures this week around 12c.....rain today and sun and rain for the rest of the week....it is needed here in the Lot to make up for all the lack of rain we had this season....apart from a brisk walk with the dogs and feeding the animals indoors will be the best place today....Luke and I had a trip to Brive yesterday doing our Christmas shopping....very busy there but nothing like England......putting up the tree today and lots of pressies to wrap up...oh and write out my Christmas cards which I admit I am a bit late this year.....the last two months have flown by.......hope all of you are well and keeping warm......soon be spring....

rain overnight...

We had heavy rain overnight......this morning bright and sunny forecast today 11c today......time to go looking for a Christmas tree now.....

12c sunny and ,mild

As we drove from the Uk into the Lot vally last night we were welcomed by a beautiful sunset.....after sleet wind and very cold weather in England it has been lovely to wake up to blue skies sunshine....it was a treat to walk the dogs this morning without loads of layers on....we have had some rain while we were away.....we also noticed travelling through many regions of France that the Lot region still have many leaves on and the Autumn leaves still look very pretty....even on the park bushes still have their leaves and flowers....I am sure the frost will arrive here soon.......lots to do now before Christmas......

10c

A calm morning temperatures today around 10c with sunshine......Sunday looks like a wet one but if the forecast is correct temperatures will rise again and sunshine will return during the week.....Ah week-end do what you want to day....work if you want to or have a lazy day.....Luke has an important rugby match tomorrow Gourdon playing Sarlat the local derby match.....hope he wins....I am away to visit my mum for a few days this week I have been told to wrap up well has the UK is very cold....it is always strange when I come back around Christmas time and see all the houses decorated and the shops very busy....Le Vigan looks very pretty for Christmas the little shops have all decorations and Christmas lights in them....this time of year our region sells lots of foi gras....which will be a job for me when I return to make pate.. we do it every year and fill enough jars with foi gras and sausage meat to last through to next year....we have a mixture of French and English meals at Christmas I have made my cake and will be bringing back a 10kg turkey back with me as  there will be 13 of us this year including grandchildren....so a busy house for a few days....and once Christmas is out of the way back to work on the park....you will be pleased to know there is no increase in the rent this year.....

16c sunny

We have had some lovely sunny days and it has been very mild for this time of year....we are now expecting rain for the next few days but it is needed as many places in France are still very dry....

16c

After a couple of foggy cold days, the sunshine returned yesterday it was a lovely warm day.....I have found many cepes in the woods this week only by chance when I was walking the dogs just noticed a couple on the side of the track... and ended up carrying many kilos back much to the joy of my son who turned up that day....it is a great passion here in the Lot for the locals to go picking mushrooms many missing work or rushing home at dinner time to go and have a look.....even Barry loves to go and search for them but never eats them......the fields are also cover the mushrooms......the slight frost we had did not affect the pots of flowers on residents sun-decks they are still blooming....though more leaves are falling daily now it still looks quite green on the park....well last day of November today and then the countdown to Christmas.....

cold.......

Winter has arrived.....we had a frost and two foggy days......it is around 10c so temperatures have dropped quite a bit......having had a long hot summer here and a warm and mild October and November I did `nt realise how close we are to Christmas.......which means the new year is also not far away and everyone will be making plans to return in March.....

great weather

Today has been a glorious day...still in our summer clothes.....this morning was very calm peaceful and blue skies....and this afternoon has been so hot summer weather in November....we continue our work outside until the weather changes....

19c

Very windy in the night again just a slight breeze this morning temperatures forecast today 19c...wow November can`t be bad.....walking around the park it is so strange to see all the plants left in pots are still flowering...even in the towns there are houses with flowers still blooming from their balconies....I continue to spend alot of time in the garden taking lots of cuttings and tidying up as they say make hay while the sun shines....

17c raining leaves

After a gloomy start yesterday it turned out to be a lovely warm and sunny day....we were expecting rain but once again it has missed our region....today there is a slight breeze and walking through the park this morning with my dogs the leaves were falling like rain...really pretty.....the weekend forecast is looking good I did think the high temperatures had left us but it looks like 18c plus......

mild and overcast

It is mild and overcast this morning temperatures 11c....rising not much higher than 16c today...I do think the temperatures for the rest of this month will not be any higher than17c now....more birds are starting to come back to visit us...I have hung my many pine cones filled with fat and bird seed around everywhere its lovely to see the woodpeckers and nuthatch enjoying them....there are alot ot blackbirds on the park and more green woodpeckers this year....no sign of frost yet after this long and hot summer I am wondering what kind of winter we shall have....but this mild weather is certainly keeping winter shorter....

17c

Temperatures dropped slightly 17c today but still sunny....very windy again during the night I think it is bringing rain which is due Wednesday here....and then returning back to sun and clouds around 17c again... the temperatures are not dropping very low over night either..It is like spring again here many plants are popping through which usually are out in spring even bushes are flowering again....thats fine unless we have a servere frost one night and then it can quite often kill the plants and bushes.....we have many birds visiting our bird tables but has it is so mild they have not touched the fat balls yet....I have also noticed lots of butterflies still about....well I think I will do some more gardening today and bring in many pots that the frost will damage when it finally arrives...the shops here are very quiet at them moment no frenzy of Christmas shopping started....its  is amazing how the months fly by Christmas shortly and then I know many of you will be planning your trips and filling your spare rooms with things to bring back....

sunshine continues

November and 20 plus.....lovely sunrise beautiful sunsets and warm sunny weather during the day......it was windy overnight but seems to stopped now.....with all of this warm mild weathe there are many trees on the park which are still very green and no signs of Autumn.......

20c

Yesterday was a bit changeable some sunshine and some rain but still very warm.....todays forecast is 20c and looks good for the next few days.....the sunrise this morning is a mixture of pinks and red really lovely....it is light here around 6 45 am and goes dark about 6.00 pm in the evening.....temperatures are not dropping to much and it is still very warm at night......Christmas as started here in the shops which is quite early in this region but none of the busy shopping as in England.....it is quite funny on Christmas eve when you see all the men rushing in before they close to buy their childrens presents.....Christmas is a special time for us and extra special having our two grandchildren here.....I enjoy going for a walk with all the family after the meal and usually the weather is good, though I do remember us walking in the snow which isn`t very offer here....

sunrise

I woke up this morning to a beautiful sunrise....it looks a bit fresher out there this morning but very sunny.....temperatures today 19c we must take advantage of this lovely weather as you do not know what kind of winter we will have.....this year has reminded me of the first years we moved here.....very hot long summers mild weather until January and then -14c....maybe it will be the same this year....we can have snow here  but usually lasts about 3 days.....coming from  the north of England we use to have lots of snow which my sons loved.....they really missed the snow when we moved here......how excited the French children were at school when it snowed and their teachers would let them go out and enjoy it....I receive many enquiries asking if they can downside in England, France and Spain and live on our park...we are a PRL which stands for Park Residentiel of Leisure, which means it is a holiday park and not residential....mobile-homes, statics holiday homes which ever you call them are not insulated for living in all year round.....  and if you look on any of the brochures they do state they are not for residential use.... by living in a mobile-home for 12 months you are advoiding paying habitation tax which is ilegal in France.... there are lodges which are built for residential use.... we are open from the 1st March until end of October...

14c today

Sunday turned out to be a lovely warm day still very mild here....I walked my grandaughter around the park we were gathering leaves and throwing them up into the air she loved it.....there are flowers blooming on many of the plots they still look really pretty...today it is a mixture of sunshine and clouds but still very.....tomorrow is showing a warm and sunny day and temperatures rising to 20c by the weekend......I have been picking chillies today my plants are still doing well and continue to flower of course this will all change when the frost arrives.....

14c today

Yesterday turned out to be a lovely and very warm day......so we were all outside working tidying and packing things away.....it rained overnight and this morning everywhere looks very wet and a bit grey.......good news is from Tuesday the temperatures will rise to 20c and the sunshine will be back.....

20c today

It rained quite heavy last night and then the skies were covered with stars... is dry this morning and quite bright and blue skies......sun and cloud forecast today temperatures reaching 20c.... I have more bulbs to plant this morning while the ground is so soft....it has been unusal to see rain after such a dry season....I have to admit I do like to walk in the rain with the dogs.......

its raining !!

Last night was wet and windy and looks to be the same today although temperatures remaining around 22c.....warm rain....the weekend forecast is temperatures are to drop to 14c but will continue to climb to 18c by the middle of next week.....so not quite into winter yet.....

22c

It has been another warm and sunny day... a bit breezy but still nice it is bringing the rain....it is trying to rain at the moment and rain is forecast tomorrow...but Friday is lovely again.....it is very mild weather here great for outdoor work...I have been taking lots of cuttings ready for next season......Luke has been draining all the site down....Barry has  been digging stones up...so all busy at the moment...

sunny and warm

After changing the clocks this week-end you almost think you are straight into winter.....but yesterday was a glorious day I walked around the park after Sunday lunch with the family and you would think it was still summer the sun was so hot....and this morning the sun is shining 13c already and reaching to 21c later.....the markets are so colourful with the flowers and enormous varieties of pumkins for sale....mushrooms and chestnuts....the park and surrounding countryside is a glow of golds, yellows, bronze and reds autumn has arrived it is stunning......

Last residents leave..

Another season has come to an end our last remaining residents leave today....the weather this week-end has been very mild great for getting alot of outdoor jobs done....the garden centres and supermarkets are all full of  Chrysanthemums really beautiful lots of colours and varieties.....they sell them for Tousaints which is on the 1st November...a day where everyone remember their family and friends who have passed away.....all week there are many cars outside the cemetries and on the 1st the cemetries are full of families taking these wonderful blooms...and for weeks after when you pass a cemetry the show of all these flowers is amazing.....I think a nice tradition that has not been lost.....

rain...

Temperatures dropped slightly overnight and it has rained very heavy....overcast this morning forecast later 17c so mild and temperatures to continue to rise and sunshine back tomorrow...Monday looks good 20c plus... although we close on the 31st October we are still here for any visitors who wish to view the park but it is best to make an appointment.....

sunny and windy

Its another sunny morning here 16c and rising to 20c today.....but it is quite windy bringing some more rain....a mixture for the next few days of days of sunshine and rainy days....still very mild here and the sun is very hot.....

After the rain

The strong winds did bring lots of rain Monday evening and all through the night......temperatures staying around 20c a bit fresh in the mornings but lovely during the day.....our last residents leave at the weekend it already seems very quiet and strange not to see any lights in the homes at night....maintenance work has already started on the park Luke is busy working down at the swimming pool....aways lots to do before we open again next season....

sunny and windy

Forecast today 22c.....the sun is shining this morning but it has been extemely windy overnight....this will blow the leaves away.....around the area there are signs of autumn lovely golds and reds but not so much here on the park the trees still look quite green although the grass is very dry.....all will change when we have some rain and the temperatures change....it is showing sun and rain tomorrow as it has done during the last few weeks but to date we have had very little rain here in the Lot....

And the good weather continues

Yesterday was at least 21c and looks to be the same today...this wonderful weather continues here in the Lot region.... though we did have a slight frost a couple of days ago....clear skys everynight and as I look out later in the evening the sky is covered in stars....more residents leaving today and only two families here until the end of the week....another season coming to an end now....but spring is just around the corner....I know everyone will be looking towards Christmas now....and once they have that out of the way...they will be filling their spare rooms back home full of things to bring out next year......

7c

There is a wonderful  red and gold sunrise this morning with a slight mist in the valley really a very pretty morning....temperatures much lower for the first time this season 7c only rising to 13c maybe a bit more as the sun rises....but by the week-end temperatures reaching 23c....we did have a drop of rain just enough to dampen the grass yesterday......some of our remaining residents due to leave this week-end the park seems quite sad and empty now....the weather has been an added bonus to anyone who has stayed here a little longer.....we are ready for a break now and to recharge our battteries and make plans for next season....

Geese heading south

I was looking at my blog to see when we heard the geese flying south last year it was the 22nd November...and tonight while we were saying our farewells to Helen & Roy having a last drink with them before they leave tomorrow, we saw the geese above us heading south once again....I think the formations they make are amazing and the distance they fly.....another very warm day blue skys 23c wonderful for this time of year....

Temperatures good

Sunday morning and the sun is shining again temperatures around 23c lovely warm days and not dropping to much overnight....rain due next Thursday maybe Friday 10c drop in temperature but will return to 20c at the week-end... this long and hot summer has made our winter shorter.....still time to get some outdoor work done before the rain...nice that our new residents who have joined us this week have this lovely weather to enjoy and prepare their holiday home and get a taste of what they can look forward to next season.... We would like to wish all of our residents and visitors who a have left now and our remaining residents a a safe ruturn and a kind winter back in the UK....thank you supporting Les Vignes Vieilles..... and we look forward to seeing you all in 2012....

good weather

This lovely weather we are having is forecast until next Tuesday when the whole of France looks a bit wet...having said that alot can happen until then...still keeping as high as 25c....nights are closing in but this does not stop our residents enjoying their last little gatherings before they leave... I asked them if they are feeling it a bit cooler in the evenings but they tell me it is still quite mild and walked back to their homes at 11.30 pm and did`nt need a warm jacket....mind you do you think it could of been the aclohol.....only a quarter of our residents here now some more due shortly to close their homes for another season ....and as for the staff at Les Vignes Vieilles lots of work and plans to do before everyone returns on the 1st March 2012....

Temperatures good

This great weather continues 30c plus this week...wonderfull...everyone really enjoying it here...all the grapes are ripening now and all the orchard is laden with fruit....considering we have had very little rain everything seems to have done well....the river Dordogne is very low and has not filled up at all due to lack of rain.....I passed the tractors collecting their tobacco leaves this morning ready to take in to dry....seems quite mad we grow plants which cause so much damage...when our dog Cork was missing I found another friend next to my washing line a male goat...we already have 3 goats and at a glance I thought one of them was out...no one has claimed him yet....

Lassie come home..

It is just like an episode from Lassie come home after 8 nights my Golden Retreiver has been found...I received a phone call from our vets in Gourdon who told me someone had found him yesterday....as you could imagine I raced over there could`nt beleive he was still alive....he had been found 10 km from Gourdon by a very kind French couple who were travelling in their motor home..they saw him in a wooded area at the side of the road...it was an emotional moment as the three of us were in tears as he realised I was there....we will never know where his little adventure took him...he has survived  a very bad storm and many very hot days.... he has lost some weight but after a bath and a good haircut due to many seeds entangled in his hair he looks good for a 14 year old a tough old guy....truly a little miracle has happened in the Lot region..... temperatures this week around 24c though yesterday was very hot...

slightly cooler

We had a lovely evening in the clubhouse with our residents last night at our Friday meal....as with many evenings this week we have watched the amazing flashes of lightening in the distance...temperatures today around 26c....it has been showing rain but it has not arrived yet....next weekend is the start of the mobile-home and lodges exibitions at The lawns in Hull.... followed by the Beaulieu show....so if you are thinking of buying a new home to have installed on one of our new plots why not go along and have a look at the 2012 models....if you would like a price of any home delivered and installed here...send me the details of the home of your choice and I will send you a total price.....

rain and more rain...

After a lovely sunny day yesterday the forecast is a bit grim for the next couple of days, temperatures from 20c rising to 27c by Thursday and then sunny again.....after months of dry weather and not a single drop of rain it is not surprising it is catching up now......its such a shame for those who only have a short holiday where the majority here stay for many months and have the advantage of sunshine most of the season.....

sun ans showers

Sun and showers is the forecast this week slightly cooler reaching around 24c by the week-end......I suppose after all the months of no rain it has to arrive sooner or later....still plenty of things to do here and wonderful places to visit.....there are also so many lovely restaurants where you can enjoy the regions wonderful cuisine....

Well its raining this morning and although our residents love their sunshine they all mentioned at the meal last night we do need some rain..... all the birds and animals are washing themselves... I was watching two blackbirds going into one of my plantpots which I had watered, and all day they were taking huge mouthfuls of the compost to make their nests.... I should think they will be happy now  as the worms surface...Another enjoyable evening in our clubhouse last night....lots of chatter and laughter... for me I love meeting new residents as everyone have their own stories and have lead some very interesting lives....looks like indoor jobs today but looking forward to the Léobard flower fair tomorrow luckily its showing sun again on Sunday......

Flower fair

We had a 30 minutes heavy shower of rain which has freshened everywhere up but we do need much more for the plants and trees.....today 26c so still warm and sunny and looking good for the yearly flower fair at the Abbey in Léobard  just outside Gourdon ....the X11 century Cistercian Abbey was built around 1260 to 1287... though it is a ruin the remaining walls and arches and history attracts many visitors.. and you can go inside where their are many photos and information about the history of the Abbey and families of the village of Léobard.... all the stalls being placed all around the Abbey and grounds I think one of the best fairs in such a beautiful setting......  Friday the 13th and thats food night for our residents on Park a nice opportunity for everyone to get together for an enjoyable evening.....

I am looking forward to the flower fairs which are all due shortly, there is a wonderful fair on Sunday at Cazals, where everyone go to buy their flowers and vegetable plants and as always its a day out for all the family, with food and entertainment....

Drop of rain

Iwas probably the only one on the park who was praying for rain....we had some thunder and a couple of heavy showers and a bit more over night but no where near enough for the plants and trees....the flowers look a bit more perky and it has washed all the pollen away which was covering all the cars and homes, but the ground is very dry and it is impossible to plant anything out at the moment.... Today 25c which is wonderful and everyone here is loving it....As always we had a family get together for Easter it makes all the difference when you can sit outside for breakfast, and continue the rest of the day and evening enjoying the weather, food and wine.... one of the advantages of having a home here in the Lot.....As I walked around the Park this Easter some of our residents were weeding their plants cutting back the honeysuckle, while others were relaxing reading their books, or taking photos of all the butterflys which are out earlier this spring.....there are many wild orchids coming out now and the fields are covered in wild flowers a very pretty time of the year....

Clubhouse open

Yes its the first night of the season down the clubhouse we have made a few changes, we are always looking of ways to upgrade our park to keep our existing residents happy and also our new residents.... We have had quite a few residents out all ready who have returned to England and more due out shortly....Some of our resdients arrive for a long stay where others choose to book a few crossings or flights during the season....That is the advantage of having a holiday home here, once you have everything you need in your home ,you can plan your next break or holiday when ever you choose.... No grass to cut no swimming pool to clean on arrival... and after your relaxing stay you can close the door behind you and leave your home knowing it is secure until the next time....Sounds just what you are looking....why not take a short break and visit our park and see what we have on offer without any obligation and an added bonus no fees to pay this season... take advantage of this wonderful weather 24c...

24c

Temperatures reached 24c today it is just like summer here....everyone here is taking adventage of this wonderful weather and why not....when I was sorting out our library on Saturday I found a nest on top of the cupboard hidden by books, this nest was there last year and this little bird was not concerned when anyone was choosing their books... I did see the bird take its young from the nest  .... as I thought it was an old nest I lifted it down  there were 4 eggs in the nest not knowing if it was the old nest I placed it outside while I cleaned the room... then I saw her watching me from the top of an oak tree and placed the nest back on the cupboard and hid it with some books and moved away... she didn`t return so I finished off the cleaning... this morning I walked down the park  to see if she was there, she popped her head out to see who it was visiting...I think she has found a safe place to return to every spring and how lovely it us for all of us here...

Great Weather..

Yes the weather is great  here and the temperatures are rising every day..... 24c this week-end wonderful.... Its a very busy time for us here preparing the holidays homes ready for the residents returning and carying out any repairs.. and of course the grass had to be cut again it really is growing fast now.... I have been sorting out the library what a selection of books....Next job is to get the clubhouse ready to open which will be Friday, quite a few residents arriving this week...I have all my sunflower plants ready to out into their beds this week I grow quite alot of varieties the large yellow ones,  and pom pom sunflowers and also the multi colour sunflowers... We have collected our turkey eggs and placed some in our incubator, we checked them after a week and they are fertile so looking forward in just over 3 weeks to some baby turkeys...Our Rhode Island red hens are also sat on eggs, just in time for Easter...Our residents love the fresh eggs, they are free range and only fed on corn which makes the yokes very yellow unlike the shop bought eggs...Having grown up on a poutry farm with my grandparents and parents I still think there is someting special when you here the hens clucking and going out and collecting the eggs, somthing I am looking forward to with my grandchildren....

Sunshine continues in the Lot..

Another glorious morning a little bit fesh first thing but warms up lovely during the day.....as always with this wonderful weather everything grows really fast and the grass is growing the fastest....We are working on the club house at the moment making a few changes inside....and also genral repairs on park.... so lots to do and I`m off out now to catch up on the outside work.....Happy days...

13 lucky for some....

I think I can say 13th has been a good day for me.... It is nearly 6.00 pm here and at the end of my busy day I am sat outside 20c enjoying a glass of wine whoops maybe two.... It has been a lovely day here at Les Vignes Vieilles, I spent 3 hours with some very nice customers who are interested in joining our park...after their visit they told me they had enjoyed every minute of their visit and had never visited a park as unique as ours.... which I think says it all...they enjoyed the views the countryside and the peace and tranquility....I have also spent the day welcoming our new residents who have joined us this season and making sure they have everything they need and are settling in....Over all a very good day......

19c today

Temperatures slightly lower today than last week but still warm and increasing everyday again....There is a new local produce shop open and is also a restaurant in Gourdon just across the road from Intermarché, I called in to have a look this week is is really nice much larger than I thought, selling vegetables, bread, cheeses, foi gras magret and lots of bio products realy worth a visit, they also had a nice menu for lunch.....The orchids are starting to appear on the land, a different variety every week.....

20c

Outside this morning looks very still not even a tiny breeze... we had a small ammont of rain yesterday which the plants really need after the high temperatures we had last week....I was just about to say it was cloudy and the sun has come out 20c today so a nice temperature.... staying about the same all week but sunny....everywhere now is very green most of the trees have their leaves now and the scent of the lilac trees is lovely.....

Summer is here..

Yes definately feels like summer with temperatures rising all week as high as 29c if not more.... for our new visitors and anyone arriving Sunday it is showing cloud and maybe a drop of rain but the good news is it will go back to wall to wall sunshine......They having started to picking the asparagus now and when you pass the tunnels with all the strawberries in they are covered in flowers which will also be picked soon....All the grass was cut on the park yesterday and the swimming pool is now filling up.....

28c Hot..

I have just come back from Bayonne  33c to temperatures today of 26c beautiful.... and increasing everyday fantastic.... so lovely to come back just five days away and the lilacs are in bloom, trees now have their leaves, dandelions and daisies are everywhere wonderful....winter is forgotton now and the good weather is here and sitting outside this evening with a glass of wine is the best....Residents are arriving and more to follow shortly.... New visitors arriving for the first time will view our beautiful quiet park for the first time and as always will fall in love with this beautiful region just as we did 21 years ago... we have a nice selection of second-hand homes for sale for a very small price, and for those who prefer a new home, we have wonderful new plots available with amazing views for a home of your choice....Come and join us here at Les Vignes Veilles and start your holiday or retirement now......

Barry and Luke are painting the pool and then we can start filling it up...Everywhere is full of colours now cherry trees are in blossom and everywhere you look there there is blossom out on hedges and trees....  As I passed through Auniac the farmers have all their plastic tunnels covered for the strawberries and the asparagus is covered in plastic, the French prefer their asparagus white and not green like the English do....

Good Weather continues

Everyone is enjoying this lovely weather it is just like summer.... some of our residents have been and gone... sorted out their homes for another season and will be back again next month.....they have already planted rosemary and lavenders on their plots... done all their weeding washed their mobile-homes down and done their spring cleaning....the advantage of a mobile-home all these jobs can be done in a short visit.... unlike a house which will need  alot more cleaning maintenance, plus if you have a pool you have to spend alot of time cleaning and setting it up... not to mention grass cutting.... here at Les Vignes Vieilles it is all done for you... your home is already opened up electric water and gas is on our technicians come out and service your boiler every season so there are no added worries.....sounds to good to be true... well get yourselves over here and take full advantage of our extremely quiet park, large private plots and friendly atmosphere.... we are a unique park unlike any others....Why not take a small break and have a look around our park without any obligation no other outside sales persons involved we are a hard working family buisness...We have a nice selection of second-hand homes for sale ready for immediate occupation, plus some lovely plots for a new home of your choice.. all this can be arranged ready for this season......

Good Weather

After a couple of cold wet and miserable days, it is 12c today reaching at least 15c this week, it is usual for us to have 2 weeks of good weather just before we open on the  1st March.....No time to loose this week, trees and bushes to be pruned back and if their is no frost we will be painting the swimming pool. I feel it is important not only for new clients but for our residents that the standards here at Les Vignes Vieilles are kept high...We are always looking for ways to constantly improve our Park....

Rain at last...

I can`t remember the last time it rained everywhere is so dry.....as I walked my dogs yesterday I noticed a change in the colour of the branches on the willows, they are the first that will burst into life here they are just waiting for this drop of rain.... temperatures around 8c today but it feels very mild then tomorrow back to sunshine and temperatures rising all week.....For me I beleive it has been a very short winter here ,yes we have had snow and some low temperatures, but we have been able to carry on with our work during winter and start alot of jobs earlier ready for our opening on the 1st March.....and what better way to start the day with blue skys and sunshine....Although there is alot of doom and gloom in England we continue to sell new and second-hand homes, maybe people want to get away from it all rather than stay at home listening to it...We are looking forward to everyone coming back and also looking forward to our new residents who have bought over the winter and will be joining us this season.... Don`t forgot our new airport will be flying in from Brive Valley of the Dordogne many airports in England which is great if you don`t fancy the drive or are planning a short break to visit our park only a 30 minute drive.....We have some lovely second-hand for sale and lovely new plots with amazing views for a holiday home of your choice..... Just 1hr 30 minutes from Bergerac airport, Limoges, Toulouse and Rodez....Many of our residents book early and get some amazing deals which also includes a hire car....

5c today

It is very mild outside this morning, temperatures no more than 5c today and a bit overcast but sunshine due again tomorrow and temperatures rising....Barry is placing top soil on the new plots and Luke is busy cutting trees, some of the plots have overgrown so quickly so its much needed it will bring in more sunshine and light....Time is moving on very quickly now and all these jobs have to be out of the way before our residents return.....it is amazing how winter can be put behind us as soon as you start the seasons work again, though I know we will be due for a bit more winter weather before we open it is nice to take advantage while the weather is good......

-9

Very cold overnight and frosty in the mornings, but as long as you wrap up its blue skys and sunshine and lovely to be out walking....I have been looking after our many birds who visit us daily, today I have melted some fat mixed in some bird seed and dipped in enormous pine cones once covered I have hung them up everywhere, they were cautious at first but are now tucking into them... our grandaughter is 6 months old today and she has been  watching all the birds coming and going...We are expecting our first grandson this summer so our family is growing everyday...It seems a long time since I use to walk all over the land with the boys and down the streams, watching them build their tree houses, riding our horses down the many tracks, fishing and walking our dogs and goats.. We loved to explore every patch of our 33 acres always finding something new... It is something I am now looking forward to sharing with our grandchildren when they are older....

Frosty

There has been a frost overnight my car is white all over but it is already 2c this morning so I don`t think the temperatures were too low overnight...At least its not cold and wet although its colder you can still wrap up and go out for a walk or do some jobs....Which at the moment we are building a greenhouse not needed in the summer months here, but ideal for growing your plants early ready for spring and will also be great for providing us with fresh herbs and salad through the winter....We have also been doing some groundwork getting the new plots ready before the delivery of  our new homes....Even though it is winter the new plots are looking really good all very large and exceptionally large spaces between each home and to the front and rear as well, giving everyone their own private plot....The views are magnificent and I am sure our new residents will be more than pleased when they relax on their sun-decks having a glass of wine.....

Jsut like spring

Yes it is just like spring at the moment temperatures around 14c blue skys and sunshine.....It has given me a chance to get out of the way alot of the jobs we do in spring, veg patch all ready for planting and garden rid of all dead plants in the garden it is amazing how many plants are already through...We usually get 2 good weeks of good weather in February, but unfortunately it does go cold and wet for after this until we open which is a bit of a shock after such lovely weather....There has been frost lower down in the valley but it has missed us here....We are expecting to have a few more sunny days but temperatures dropping and a possibility of rain and snow on Sunday and Monday, so we must get as many jobs done outside before it changes....

10c changeable

Weather here changeable temperatures between 10c and 14c this week raining at the moment but due to clear up later.....All the contracts posted yesterday to all our residents ready for another season, not long now before we open again 1st March....We usually get 2 weeks of lovely weather in February which helps to finish all our outside work before everyone arrives back....athough it has been very mild since Christmas and has already helped us to do some jobs....

Eclipse

We all up yesterday morning to see the  partial eclipse luckily there was little cloud.... Last night we had a drop of rain but it is sunny again here this morning, this week we have had -4 but it is mild again today 10c which is great for those outdoor jobs that need doing....

Very Mild.

The weather here is very mild 13c today what a change from last week.....You would think it was spring with all the birds singing every morning....Good time to starting cutting back all the bushes on park and getting my raised seed beds ready for spring....Yes spring is just around the corner time to plan your trips and also for our new residents filling your spare room with all items you will need for your new home...I think buying a holiday home is a great adventure a new phase in your life and something new to look forward to....A time to share your holiday home with your family and friends and also meeting new friends....The lot region is a lovely area to visit and also we are on the border of the Dordogne so many places to visit..... Not to miss out the wine and wonderful regional food...

Christmas over

Having had a lovely white Christmas with our family the snow is now melting fast, it is 10c today and temperatures due to rise every day...I have walked the dogs this morning it is very mild and pleasant... Work will start again now getting the park ready to open for the  1st March 2011 season.... We have quite a few new residents this season and we are looking forward to them joining us at Les Vignes Vieilles shortly...As with many of our second-hand sales we will also miss the residents who will be leaving us, but I am sure they will come and visit us and their many friends they made during their stay....

9c today

Luckily we are not experiencing the heavy snow unlike England, it has been dry and sunny all week and continues for the remainder of the week..... temperatures today 9c it seems quite mild here...Well we are all ready for Christmas and looking forward to all our family arriving...My youngest son plays for Gourdon rugby team and won yesterday 27 -0 so even more reason to celebrate...Considering all the doom and gloom we hear we continue to have lots of interest in our park and look forward to meeting perspective buyers in the new year.....Once Christmas is out of the way it is the time when everyone starts looking forward to spring and summer and start making their plans for 2011....We are also planning our next season and looking forward to opening up the holiday homes and welcoming everyone back.....

Sun continues to shine..

Although we are not having temperatures like 20c now it is still very sunny, having -4 overnight this week and temperatures not reaching more than 6c it is still nice to go walking.....I continue to searching for the animal tracks has I walk my dogs boars and deers have been on the park... Sadly one of my older dogs passed away this week Gizmo was 14 which is a good age....We have many birds visiting the tables now and Gimli is enjoying eating all the acorns and chestnuts which have fallen...We are expecting a bit of snow towards next week-end but I will be surprised if we have a white Christmas...Especially looking forward to all the family joining us for Christmas, I still make a Christmas cake and mince pies, it is an extra special time for us a real family thing where we enjoy good wines, good food and being together.....

20c wonderful

After minus temperatures last week we had 20c yesterday and the same for today, it is just like summer very mild and warm.. Paris is however having snow so it may continue down to the Lot.... Its great to put away your winter coats and hats and walk around the park in just a jumper....Its not unusual to have mild weather around Christmas time we have many times eaten our Christmas dinner with the doors open on the house maybe it will be interesting to see if we have a white Christmas or a warm one.....

Cold but sunny

It may be -2 this morning but it is sunny, all the snow as melted but we are due for a bit more this afternoon and tomorrow, it is the earliest we have ever had snow since we moved here in 1990. Our first years here we had no snow which was quite sad for my little boys who had snow every winter in England, and usually our snow only lasts 2 to 3 days...

Snowing in the Lot

Yes we have had snow here as well, snowed quite heavy this week but there were no problems with the roads or lanes. It looked really pretty on the park I love finding all the animal footprints as I walk around seeing who has visited us overnight...Temperatures this morning 2c and reaching 5c later it is raining a bit today but forecast for more snow during the next couple of days and sunshine on Friday...Unlike England signs of Christmas have just started in the shops although every year it seems to be more busy, they also have Christmas fairs here in every town.....Special Christmas for our family this year as we now have a grandaughter....

A Bit Wet...

Yes our weather has changed too.... after our lovely mild and sunny November it is now raining chance to get out all my books for new ideas for the park.... It is due to clear up and the sunshine to return but temperatures will be lower... As I walk around the park now there are still flowers out on many of the terraces as on our patio outside the house, I have been planning to pot my winter pansies but it seems a shame to throw away the remaining summer plants when they are still flowering....Above our house the other evening we saw about 8 eagles, and also the same evening lots of geese flying overhead obviously all heading off to another place for the winter....

After the sunshine

Haiving had some glorious sunshine over the last few days temperatures reached 18c, it is misty this morning looking more like winter we are now down to 12c today a mixture of weather for this week sun and rain.... It still feels very mild outside and there are still flowers and roses on the park....

Slight Frost

After a couple of days of heavy rain we have had a slight frost overnight, it is 6c this morning but sunny reaching 13c later today and 18c over the week-end... Good time to plant the winter pansies... It is Armistice day here today everywhere is closed as it is a public holiday....

Autumn

The region is now covered with golds red yellow and browns, as I walk Gimli and the dogs through the woods the leaves are falling like rain... We are due for some rain this week though temperatures are good and it is very mild here which keeps winter shorter....My bird tables have lots of visitors now, yesterday I saw a Woodchat Shrike feeding...

Great weather for November

After a couple of evenings of heavy rain we continue to have lovely mild and warm sunny days here in the lot 20c again by the week-end.... The park is now beginning to show its autumn colours, its lovely walking along the pathways amongst the fallen leaves a  lovely time of year...Now we have changed the clocks it is going dark around 6.15pm... we still celebrate bonfire night here in France a tradition we have kept going with the boys although we were early this year we had it last night only due to all the family being here altogether for the evening, treacle toffee and toffee apples and of course a guy it was a fun evening...

End of October

Although it is almost the end of October we continue to have fine weather reaching 17c by Friday really lovely sunny and warm days though temperatures do drop late in the evening and we have also had -2..... 1st of November is a special bank holiday here toussaint  ( all saints day )the day when all the French remember there families and friends whi have passed away, all the supermarkets garden centres and shops are full of every variety of Chrysanthemums the colours are amazing. During this week and especially on Monday every cemetary throughout France will be covered with these beautiful flowers, it is good to see that the graveyards here are respected and their traditions continue....

Sunny morning

A bright sunny morning here in Le Vigan 12c today and reaching 15c for the rest of the week-end so not too bad...We don`t seem to be having problems with petrol at the moment although there are strikes on everywhere in France seems to be pretty quiet here... I walked Gimli and the dogs around the park and through the woods yesterday it is his happiest time of year eating all the fallen acorns and chestnuts and rooting through all the leaves....It is so peaceful here you would never know about any crisis when you are here....I would imagine after this sunny day the temperatures will drop tonight so best to get all the plants inside and cover up my winter salads and herbs....

Autumnn

After our wonderful hot sunny days this month the temperatures have dropped slightly now, only 12c today but still pleasant....no sign of the strikes in our region petrol still available not that it will affect us as we close at the end of the month time to catch up on some jobs on park while everyone is away and make plans for next season....

Misty Morning

Looking a little more like autumn with the misty mornings, forcast last night was 2c so you would need your winter duvet on, although the temperatures are slightly lower than yesterday 16c it is still beautiful sunny weather....From next year there will be flights from Manchester to Limoges twice a week with Jet 2 from our new airport which is less than 30 minutes away, Brive Valley of the Dordgone, which will be good news for all our residents and visitors who live in the north of England..... City Jet also fly from the south of England and fly from Ireland and from Scotland to other airports in France....Worth thinking about if you fancy a long week-end, some of our resdients have already find some good offers for flights and hire cars....

A lovlly sunny morning here in the Lot region 16c and forcast 21c today, and to continue all week.... Perfect day for picking up all the walnuts.......We have seen lots of wildlife in the last few weeks wild boar, deers and foxes, Gimli will be having the freedom of the park shortly where he will wander freely and enjoy all the fallen acorns and nuts....nights are closing in now going dark around 7.30pm but temperatures are not dropping overnight too much....

Windy but warm

Warm winds blowing up from the south but a lovely sunny morning.... temperatures today 25c so October as usual is a nice time of year, no signs of autumn the leaves are still very green... rain is due tomorrow and Monday but more sunshine to follow which sounds good to me.... rain much needed for my veg patch all the winter salads are through and more herbs so a couple of days of rain will do some good...

Boules Champion

Our last match of the season yesterday evening was won by the most points was Colin, and runner up was Barry.... having said that the match last night was won by Jeny who had to throw left handed having broken her wrist a few weeks ago.... Looking good for the girls next year.... Sun continues to shine today 26c, everyone soaking up the sun on their sun-decks.... Perfect way to end a season......

Summer continues in the Lot

Our lovely weather continues 26c today, as usual September weather has been very warm and sunny and it looks good for October which keeps the winter months shorter.....the amazing sunsets in the evening continue and later in the evening the clear skys are covered in stars..... As you walk through the woods the ground is now covered by chestnuts and acorns, and this month is also the time to search for our local mushrooms which are called cepes.... Gimly loves this time of year and is back wondering around the park eating all the acorns.....

Changeable

We have had a week of changeable weather, dry but very cool early in the morning but warming up during the day, a drop of rain this morning, but looking good for tomorrow and the weekend reaching 25c. We have had lots of residents here for September and they really have had glorious weather.... A sad time of year as we watch some of our residents starting to pack things away until next year... But another season is not far away and we look forward to everyone returning and our new residents who have recently bought a home here and will be joining us all in 2011..... Our work continues during the winter improving our park and keeping our standards high, we are a unique park and it is important not only for our new residents but also important to keep our existing residents stay here an enjoyable one.....

It is a beautiful day here 29c , Sarlat market continues to be very busy with tourists and locals today... everyone enjoying the weather, after a busy evening last night with our weekly menu it was nice to sit and have a coffee in the sunshine and watch everyone wandering through the market place.... Quite a few residents back again on park now relaxing on their sun-decks or around the pool.....

Friday special

Every Friday evening we provide a menu for all of our residents, its a good social event where everyone have a laugh and a chat with friends over a lovely meal and wine in a warm and welcoming surrounding..... We have this evening our very own guitarist Michael who will also be entertianing us... Weather is looking good this morning after the heavy rain we have had during the last two nights, temperatures this week-end rising to 28c....

Drop of rain...

Unlike the previous evenings the skys covered in stars, we had a good down pour of rain during the night... you could hear the thunder and see the lightening in the distance and eventually it passed over us, the rain was needed there were cracks across the land due to the lack of rain and the heat we have experienced over the last few weeks... Good day to pull out the weeds and nice temperature for walking.. 15c this morning and reaching around 19c today but continues to rise over the next few days... the park is busy again now everyone has returned from their trips and looking forward to their next two months of the season.....

Sarlat Market

Sarlat market is the place everyone goes on a Saturday morning, although there are many car parks and roads where you can park it is always best to leave early during the high season... Yesterday it was still quite busy even though we are in September, still lots of tourist about but mainly couples now... I have during the last few weeks helped my nephew to set up a stall at Sarlat and Domme, leaving very early in the morning and driving through the early mist on the Dordogne,  putting up your stand and making friends with the other stall holders, was something I had never done here before ... Unless you are a regular trader you have to be there very early and walk around with many others and the man in charge and fight for your spot... They made us very welcome and greeted us each time we met at other markets as though we had known them for years... It was really interesting to see another way of life here in France..

September sunshine

Although the nights are a little shorter, we are still having beautiful sunny days, the pool continues to attract our residents, who are taking advantage of this wonderful weather... Temperatures reaching 30c today, its lovely to wake up to blue skys each morning, it is very dry here, and when you look around the trees and plants are in need of a drop of rain, many of the oak trees are now showing signs of lack of water all their leaves are turning brown, there are also cracks in the ground due to the lack of rain...I am sure we are due shortly to a bit of rain, but hopefully like other years the sunshine returns and we have a  mellow October...

More sunshine

After another lovely sunny day, I look across the fields and there is a stunning sunset what a perfect way to end a day, temperatures reaching 30c this week a good start to September....

Glorious weather here..

We have had a wonderful August here, last week temperatures reaching 39c, slightly cooler now 25c which is perfect for sun bathing and visiting the many tourist places in our area... September always being the best time to go out and explore and not quite has busy as summer....

summer

Summer is definately here temperatures reaching 34c today, the swimming pool is the best place to be, refreshing and peaceful, you can choose anytime during the day to have the pool to yourselves... how good is that.... We shared our 20 year celebration with our residents, having moved here 20 years ago, I will be posting photos on our web site shortly... We have sold some second-hand homes recently and are looking forward to our new residents joining us very soon.. We still have some very nice homes still for sale all ready to move into with their own personal view and with an added bonus of no rent to pay before 2011...

Celebrating 20 years.....

Yes it is almost 20 years since we moved to France... Although you do wonder where time goes, it has been a long journey with many ups and downs, but when I look around and see what our family has acheived in 20 years it makes me very proud. We are the owners of a very beautiful unique park which we have created. Walking around the park now its nice to see that our residents also take pride in what they have here...They all tell me they have the best plot which proves our park is working well.... The temperatures continue to rise forecast at least 34c by Friday.....

Temparatures rising..

We are having glorious weather here, 30c and rising... its good waking up to blue skys in the morning  birds singing and enjoying the long summer evenings... It reminds us all  once again why we are here, it is so peaceful here our park is never full due to residents coming and going..You can take advantage during the day of having the pool to yourselves...

Seems a long time since my last blog..

It does seem ages since I wrote my last blog I have been away to England but its good to be back again... We have like so many other places had some very wet and cold days, but once again the sun is shining temperatures reaching 26c during the next few days. The sun flowers have taken advantage of all the rain and are taller than me.. veg plot looks good too, as does the park, everywhere is so green... I continue my walks with my dogs and Gimli he has now made many friends on site who daily feed him nuts and apples and anything thats going... he has now found is own way out to go and visit everyone and once he has had his treat he then moves onto the next plot to see if anyone is home..

25c today

Lovely weather all week a long and sunny day today 25c, a bit changeable over the next couple of days but then sunny again.... If you are thinking of buying a new home there is still time to order a  and have it delivered for this season, or maybe you prefer a good second-hand luxury home, already to move into straight away and take advantage of this lovely weather.....the park looks so pretty at this time of the year everyone takes pride in their own home, and flowers voer their terraces and plots....The pool also looks very inviting the water being crystal clear it is so peaceful you could hear a pin drop... After a relaxing day around the pool with your book, you can enjoy the warm evenings maybe a bbq and a couple of glasses of wine on your sun-decks and watch the amazing sunsets... Sounds to good to be true... but this all happens at les Vignes Vieilless....

Glorious sunny days

We have had some very warm and sunny days, everyone out on their terraces soaking up the sun.... The park is filling up nicely now and more residents are due to arrive in the next few days... No more cooking indoors its time for the men to get their bbq going.... We have just had a very enjoyable evening in the clubhouse, its nice to see everyone getting together and enjoying each others company... Market day at Sarlat tomorrow, its nice to visit in the morning before it gets too busy, I love to sit and have a coffee and watch everyone coming and going buying their cheeses and fresh produce...

Improving

The weather changed slightly this week temperatures alot lower than normal and heavy showers, today the sun is shining only reaching approx 15c, but we are all looking forward to next week when the temperatures are showing 22+. I visited a very large flower show at Cazals which is about a 25 minutes drive away form the park, there are many of these advents and brocantes this time of year.It is a great day out lots of stalls selling local produce, but mainly all the many varieties of flowers for sale. Due to the low temperatures we had this week, the wild orchids we have on the land are late this year. A good day today to go searching for some Giroles, you never know maybe Gimli will find us a truffle or two...

Residents returning

The sun is shining today although we have had some rain, it is 19c + today, has I walked around the park most of the residents are out on their terraces soaking up the sun. As it is the month for the mushrooms we will be expecting a bit of lightening showers and sunshine so quite a mix, just what you need to start these mushrooms growing in the woods and meadows...More residents due today and during the next few days so filling up nicely. We held a Tapas evening on Saturday free to all to welcome all our resdients back for another season, it nice to see everyone chatting away and catching up on their news... Just one of many evenings to follow....

Flowers and fairs...

It is around 17c today slightly lower temperatures than a few days ago, but very pleasant the air is so fresh... we had rain overnight which has helped all the plants and trees. Sun and showers due during the next few days, I have been to Cales this morning, a yearly advent to buy our plants and hanging baskets for the park, although it is overcast it was still a lovely morning walking around all the stalls with their many plants and produce. We sat outside the Logis having a coffee I love to sit back and watch everyone coming and going with all their plants, I am sure this is the first of many mornings to come... There are fetes all over France today being the 1st May...  It is a tradition here where friends family present you with a bouquet of lily of the valley, there are children and elderly ladies sat selling these lovely scented flowers where ever you go.There is a brocante at our local town Gourdon today and another at Gramat tomorrow...

New Airport opens June

The new airport La Roche Cressensac situated in the Coreze plans its first London flights from 25th June with a company called Cityjet. it is estimated more than 50% of the tourists who visit The Lot region are English, not surprising really as it is a very beautiful and historical region in France... And with so many  British visitors it will be  interesting for Ryanair and Flybe to offer their cheap flights ...

For anyone working here leaving a flight from Brive Vallee de la Dordogne  at 17.40 on Friday will arrive in London at 18.15.

We are approximately a 30 minute drive from the airport, which will be very interesting for our residents who often have a short drive and hire a car during their stay.

31c

Yesterday reached 31c so it was quite warm to say the least but lovely, we have had little rain this month and of course after such high temperatures rain will be expected. It is also nearly the time for mushrooms, usually the temperatures rise during the day followed by a storm and then all the French are out serching for their mushrooms... Everyday now when I walk through the meadows and woods there are more and more wild flowers and orchids appearing, there are wild lily of the valley in the shady areas of the woods and fields....

longer days and warm evenings

Since we have changed the clocks these sunny days seem to go on for ever, its 8.30pm and the sun is just about to disappear, it is 15c now after a very hot day... In a matter of days everywhere you look  the trees now have their leaves and their are so many shades of green... our Wisteria on site has flowered it looks stunning and the Spiria is covered in pink flowers... On the 1st May there are many fairs where everyone goes to buy all their plants and shrubs for the summer, the fairs continue for a couple of weeks in many villages including antique fairs or brocante has they are called here..

Temperatures rising

Although you might be under the impression that spring has arrived here in the Lot region, it is more like summer we have temperatures around 24c this week. When you look around the park and the surrounding countryside many of the trees and bushes now have their leaves. There are butterflys and bees out now and the birds are now building their nests, we have a magpies nest at the back of our property, and three red squirrels that visit us daily. Lilacs are in flower and the cherry and plum trees are in blossom, the first signs of wild flowers are appearing tiny white and blue flowers cover the ground around the park. Blue skys in the morning long sunny days and stars by night..

Don`t miss this sunhine

Get away from all the doom and gloom and of course elections.... Pack up and get yourselves over here the weather is glorious, forecast 21c all week. Thinking of buying a home we have some lovely second-hand homes all ready to move into, you can start your new way of life today.

So hot you need a mud bath

After a changeable week, it is so warm Gimli is having daily mud baths to keep cool.. We have had some beautiful sunny days ranging from 16c to 21c. Everywhere you look the trees are bursting into to life, Plum trees are in blossom as are the wild cherry trees on the park.. I saw some wild boar tracks today in the woods and could see where they had disturbed the ground in the fields, there were also deer tracks. The red squirrels are back in my garden  and there were linets on the bird table. As with many places this year we have lost a few bushes in our garden and on park due to the early frost we had last season. Talking to many who have travelled  around europe during the winter, they have experienced a colder winter compared to other years. That is all behind us now and it is a joy to wake up every morning to sunshine...

Happy Easter

I would like to wish everyone A Very Happy Easter, temperatures 14c today and showers but good news the sun is coming back forecast next week between 19c nd 21c can`t wait...

The rain has got the grass growing and lots of plants and trees are bursting into life, no barbeques this week-end, maybe in next few days....

And then the rain came

After our glorious days we are now having sun and showers, but with the sun and the rain everywhere is looking so much greener and the lilacs are nearly out now. Gimli is rooting amongst the leaves and enjoying eating all the acorns on site. Lots of baby chicks hatching everyday now and more due shortly. I think we are going to have some good sunny days in between the rainy ones.

Another glorious day

We had some heavy rain overnight but it was needed the ground was very dry after the wind, today has been a good day, many have been tidying up around their homes and planting new shrubs, temperatures around 16c and continues through the week-end may a few showers forcast, but Monday shows 21c again and full sunshine.

Sunshine continues

We are having some lovely weather here 21c everyday, can`t even remember having a winter now... our swimming pool is filling up ready for all those glorious days to be spent around the pool. Some residents are here already and more due to arrive shortly, its nice to see some movement on the park once again. I heard the first cuckoo this week, and my little frogs are back in my pond, bushes and trees are now getting their leaves and there are more spring flowers are out now. My vegetable garden has already salad through and I will be planting more seeds today. We now have lots of fresh free range eggs available daily, and duck eggs, for me I think there is nothing nicer than hearing the clucking of the hens when they have just laid their eggs, and going into their nesting boxes and gathering all these wonderful fresh eggs.

Highest temperature

We have had some lovely warm suuny days, today was 21c but it was a bit windy and this kept the temperature down slightly, good to get outside and do some gardening without the woolley jumpers and jackets.  It is raining now but tomorrow is forcast another warm and sunny day. Daffodils are out and violets and willows, the chorus of birds is getting louder and louder every morning and evening sure sign of spring...

Warm and Sunny

It may still be a bit cool at night but we are having glorious sunshine in the day, forcast this week reaching 15c and maybe more..... So time to pack away your winter clothes and out with your spring collection, everyone seem to be planning their visits now and looking forward to another long lazy season here at The Old Vines. Walking around the park now after a couple of days of sunshine, daffodils, violets and daisies are flowering, and the willows are bursting into life.

Warm and sunny

It is lovely to wake up to blue skys and sunshine, it really is like spring today, birds singing chickings clucking and laying eggs, and everyone busy outside. Homes are all back on to services now, bushes and shrubs all cut back for another season, I off out to start the veg plot and plant cuttings and seeds. We saw even more geese fly over late yesterday afternoon, I watched them from far away until they reached the park, and then they circled and circled getting higher and higher until they carried on their way, I think it is amazing to watch.Temperatures today around 15c so can`t complain...

Wild Geese

Having watched the wild geese fly south for the winter, today while we were working on the Park we heard the cries of the geese has they headed north, hundreds and hundreds of them all day flying over Les Vignes Vieilles, we all stopped work and stood watching  the formations they made in the sky above, we often hear them in the night too. A sure sign of another season starting and time to put winter behind us and look forward to the better weather ahead, it is much milder here already and staying a bit lighter every evening.

Birds singing

I woke up this morning to a wonderful chorus of birds singing, which tells me spring is not far away, it is a beautiful sunny morning here and weather is forcasting 17c this week. Time to get out the cutters and shears and begin the task of cutting all our bushes back. We already have some chicks which have hatched out this week, daffodils and bluebells are pushing their way up out of the ground, I think this is the best time of the year, new life, watching every bush and tree getting new buds, and of course all our wild birds which we take care of all winter, now greet us every morning with their singing....

Improving

It is alot milder today rain over night and it has started to rain again, however sun is on its way 13c starting from Sunday can`t wait....It seems everyone this year is really waiting for some good weather, I think everywhere has had snow and now are ready for some better weather.. The NEC show at Birmingham is shortly, good place to go if you are planning to buy a holiday home for this season....

Sunny days

After a tiny bit of snow this week and overcast days it is finally showing sunny days, temperatures still low in the mornings but warming up during the day. I think we have experienced more snow and rain than other years but it good for killing of all the bugs and breaks the ground up which is good for planting. As long as the sun is shining and its dry you can get wrapped up and do some work on the land or great for walking. Just two weeks before we open so lots to do before our residents return, and our new visitors make their first trip to visit The old Vines...

Just 3 weeks

Yes it is only 3 weeks before we open once again for another season, time to book your ferries and flights, and plan your route...  Time to start gathering your bits and  bobs ready to bring with you for your long relaxing break, and for our new residents remembering everything you will need in your new holiday home.. I watch every season the cars arriving packed up to the roof with all their belongings, and telling me we have got everything we need.... only to find once they experience their new lifestyle, they return on their next trip with more... I think the men concentrate more on the barbeques and the outside looking forward to having a beer or two on their sun-decks, where as the lady`s love choosing all the items they need inside and adding all the finishing touches   ... It has been quite an eye opener has not all of my children have left home, I get great pleasure watching my new residents starting a new adventure here at The Old Vines...

Google Map

After a very windy night and heavy rain it has brightened up quite nicely today, a mixture of sun and showers but to be expected at this time of year. Having walked the dogs and had a look down on phase 2 where Lewis has been clearing more bushes, it has now given an even better view of the surrounding countryside. I have today placed a google map to make it easier for anyone who wishes to visit The Old Vines Park in the future....

New restaurants and airport

There are two new restaurants open one in Le Vigan, that overlooks the lake, could just imagine you all going on your walks and having lunch there. The other restaurant to open is near the station at Gourdon, though I think it is more for pizza`s..... There has been more news on the airport at Brive, after many delays should be open this June. This will be good for the park as it is approx 40 minutes drive, and will be handy for visits and for anyone who wishes to hire a car.... The weather here is a bit windy today and overcast about 11 c but feels cooler, rain is due tomorrow and Saturday but sunny on Sunday...

New Mobile-Home

Its a very bright sunny morning  had frost overnight, but good weather for siting new homes...

Yesterday we sited our first  home of the season a Pemberton St Moritz 38 x 12, quite a large home, installed on our second phase of the park, although it is winter with the sun shining the views are amazing. I can picture our new residents sipping their wine and soaking up this wonderful surrounding. We have had some rain in the last week so the frost does enable us to move these homes more easily.

Just like spring

As I walked around the park today with Gimli and the dogs, you could almost think it was spring, after alot of rain overnight, it is very mild here today birds singing and everywhere looking very green. Just makes you realise the good weather is just around the corner. Spring is my most favourite season, new life, the first flowers to appear, and no matter where you go everyone is in their gardens and fields tidying up and planting for another season. Yes spring is not far away, time to plan your trips, book your ferries, and look forward to opening up your holiday home for another long and barmy summer...

Sunny but cold

Lovely sunny morning still some snow on the ground but at -7  I don`t think the snow will  be in a hurry to melt away.....Forcast is showing a few changeable days rain and sunshine so not too bad. The weeks are passing very quickly hoping to plant some bushes and trees as soon as the ground is soft enough to dig... I love to walk through the park after the snow has fallen and follow the tracks of all the animals who have visited us during the night, deers and boars and foxes, it does give you an idea of how many are in our area.

-2 c

It has been quite cold here today -2 c but not as cold as Ecosse... It did give snow today and tomorrow and it has just started to snow and its quite heavy... But its Saturday tomorrow, week-end, so I will just enjoy the season, walk  the dogs, feed the animals, check on the mobile-homes, because before we know it will be so hot, everyone will be back lying on their sun beds, opening a bottle of wine, swimming in the pool, walking through the meadows of wild flowers orchids and butterflys, and watching the abundance of birds who visit our bird tables.... Sounds like heaven and its just around the corner....

Snow again

The forecast here today is for snow and at the weekend. there was a tiny flutter, but maybe we will have more tonight not going to be caught out this time I have been shopping and all the cuboards are full again.. It was very cold this morning walking the dogs and Gimli ,there had been a frost overnight so the park looked really pretty. We saw some geese fly over this afternoon heading south, Lewis who has just visited Bayonne said their were alot of geese there too.

Happy New year

Wishing you a very Happy New year from a very wet France... As a child I lived between two canals Manchester Ship canal and the Bridgewater canal, and  near many tanneries, at new year my family and I would all go outside just before midnight to bring in  the new year, the sirens and noises from the tanneries and ships and even the barges and boats for me made it, when moving to France my first new year all the family gathered with me outside and then midnight... nothing but deadly silence it was such a disapointment, no cheers buzzzers sirens absolutely nothing.. I reached a point where I would shout out into the darkeness HAPPY NEW YEAR !!  It has taken 20 years but last night I saw many beautiful fireworks in the distance and a few across the fields maybe its a sign 2010 will be full of cheer !!

Last day 2009

I have just walked around the park with my dogs and Gimli it is very mild here sunny and around 15 c we have had rain in the night but we have had nice sunny days and blue skys over Christmas. Well 2010 is only a few hours away...  Hope its a good year for everyone..

Looking froward to 2010

Now Christmas is over we now look forward to our next season 2010, it is a special year for all of our family here at Les Vignes Vieilles our 20 year anniversary,  having  moved here in 1990. Alot has changed since we arrived here with our four very young children with our dream to design and build a Mobile-Home Park. We have not only created a Park but a community, which has also fulfilled the dreams of so many of our residents who have been searching for their own little piece of France, where they can come and go as they choose to relax, to share with family and friends,or meeting new friends, and enjoying everything the region has to offer. As I walk around our park I am told frequently by our residents they have the best plot, which tells me by creating our unique park with its large private plots our dream as been a success. This season we have more new spacious plots available with their magnificent views, and look forward to meeting new residents who have found Les Vignes Vieilles to be their choice to spend their holidays or maybe retirement here with us.

Another one nearly over

It is nearly 7.00 pm  on Christmas Day, it has been a lovely sunny day very mild here, which isn`t unusual at Christmas in France, all the cooking and preparing is over, and I do beleive everyone has had a wonderful day, maybe a bit full and a few too many to drink, but hey its Christmas it only comes around once a year...  I have had some lovely messages and cards from our residents here and look forward to planning our next season 2010... Time to reflect on the day and settle down to a good whiskey and a box of chocolates .. Bon Fete !!

Nearly Christmas

Driving down to Montauban today from the distance I could see snow on the mountains at the Massif Central, all our snow has melted now and it is raining tonight. The shops here are just as busy as England, everyone rushing around buying their last presents. The markets are full of fresh fish and especially oysters, which is very popular here in France at Christmas. I know alot of people get stressed out at this time of year and can`t wait for it to be over, but I love it, choosing presents for all the family wraping them up, baking the cake and mince pies, and finally nothing better than putting your feet up and enjoying a glass of mulled wine...

Weather

We have had snow for the last three days, temperatures -10, although quite cold, we have blue skys and amazing sunsets..

the old vines my bog

Another beautiful day here at Les Vignes Vieilles, temperatures as high as 16 c but cold in the evenings, perfect weather for planting all my trees on our new plots which I grew 2 years ago and are now nearly 6ft tall... Barry and the boys have worked really hard on the new plots, every plot has its own amazing view overy the surrounding countryside.
